Liverpool
Liverpool is now becoming well-known as the European City of Culture 2008. Take a trip on the River Mersey to admire the city’s World Heritage Status waterfront. Liverpool was awarded this accolade to recognise its significance as a commercial port at the time of Britain’s greatest influence on the world. The city of Liverpool has two class art galleries – the Tate and the Walker. Not only that but it also houses two museums, the World Museum and the Merseyside Maritime plus four theatres. The museums are houses by the wonderful Albert docks where you’ll find a host of boutique shops and cafes as well as the Beatles Story – an integral part of Liverpool’s culture and history.
Brecon Beacons
Stay in a romantic large country house or boutique hotel or get cosy in your own tent and spend a weekend exploring South Wales’ magnificent National Park – the Brecon Beacons. Castles, market towns, canal paths, waterfalls, woods, caves and stunning rolling hills can all be found and explored. There are plenty of guided walks to follow to find romantic ruins and past grand castles or you can find your own secluded spot to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings in. The sheer beauty of the gently rolling landscape will bring out the romantic in even the greatest of cynics!
Edinburgh
The Old Town of Edinburgh is a fascinating experience - famous for it's narrow medieval wynds and closes housing intimate pubs, restaurants and shops. Highlights include Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, St Giles Catherdral and Princess Street Gardens. Many streets are steep in the Old Town so plan your route carefully.
Isle of Mull
Just West of the Scottish Coast, the Isle of Mull is a popular destination with something for everyone - beautiful scenary, attractions and plenty of history. But it is the Isle's nature that makes it a cert for this Best For guide. A popular destination for bird watchers it is perhaps one of the best places to see a Golden Eagle and White Tailed Sea Eagle. Mull is also known as one of the best places in Scotland to see whales, dolphins and seals.
